Due to COVID-19, we are no longer providing paper copies of permits. Please do not come to the department. To apply for a burning permit you must call 508-359-2323. A member of the department will take your information and give you a permit number for 2021. You may also email mfdchief@medfield.net and we will respond back during business hours with a permit number. To be issued a permit we will need your name, address, and phone number.
Open burning is allowed from January 15 thru May 01 between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm only.
All fires must be extinguished by 4 pm
All permits expires on May 01, 2021
Call the Medfield Fire Dept. on the day you wish to burn at 508-359-4411 permits will be issued, weather permitting, between the hours of 0900 and 1200 pm
- THE BURNING OF STUMPS, LEAVES, GRASS, RUBBISH OR BUILDING MATERIALS ARE PROHIBITED. THE USE OF GASOLINE IS PROHIBITED.
- Burning must take place at least 75’ from the nearest structure.
- A charged garden hose and suitable hand tools must be readily available to control the fire.
- Keep brush piles to a small and manageable size.
- A competent person must attend and control the fire until it is completely extinguished.
- ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE ABOVE REGULATIONS MAY RESULT IN THIS PERMIT BEING REVOKED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE BURNING SEASON.
