Background
Medfield Community Electricity is an electricity supply program in development by the Town of Medfield to provide residents and businesses with new, Town-vetted options for electricity supply. Medfield Community Electricity does not replace Eversource, the electric utility in Medfield, which continues to deliver your electricity, repair power outages, maintain the electricity grid and manage all billing.
On the Medfield Community Electricity (MCE) website – electricity.medfield.net - you can read more in-depth information about the program and follow the program development timeline.
Draft Municipal Aggregation Plan: The Town held a public review of the plan for the MCE program in early 2022. Now, due to new requirements for aggregation programs like MCE, the Town has updated the MCE plan.
The updated plan is available for public review and comment from July 12, 2022 through August 22, 2022. Read the updated plan and see how to submit your comments on the program website electricity.medfield.net or by accessing a hardcopy of the plan at the Medfield Library. You can check the hours of circulation on the library website.
Public Hearing: The Town of Medfield will hold a Public Hearing on the Aggregation Plan at the Board of Selectmen meeting on August 2, 2022.
DPU Public Hearing: The Department of Public Utilities will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 beginning at 2:00 p.m. Attendees can join by entering the link, https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84328568341, from a computer, smartphone, or tablet. No prior software download is required. For audio-only access to the hearings, attendees can dial in at (646) 931-3860 (not toll-free) and then enter the Meeting ID# 843-2856-8341. If you anticipate providing comments via Zoom during the public hearing, to the extent possible, please send an email by the close of business (5:00 p.m.) on Monday, November 21, 2022, to katherine.goyette@mass.gov with your name, email address, and mailing address. Full Notice is linked here:
The program is currently in development. When the program is ready to launch, the Town of Medfield will conduct an extensive public outreach and education campaign to ensure that the community is aware of the program. The program will be open to electricity customers in Medfield – whether they are a resident, a business, a renter or an owner.

Seeking Committee Members
The Board of Selectmen is seeking two Medfield residents to join the Town’s new Community Choice Aggregation (“CCA”) Advisory Committee. The May 2021 Town Meeting authorized the development of a Community Choice Aggregation plan for the town. Community Choice Aggregation will allow the town to procure electricity on behalf of its residents and businesses at a competitive price with renewable energy content of choice (seeking to lower the town’s carbon footprint). The Committee will select a broker and then work with the broker to design an aggregation plan for Medfield, seek regulatory approval, choose a supplier, conduct community outreach and implement Community Choice Aggregation in Medfield.
