About Medfield Town Government
An Overview of Medfield's Form of Government
Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator
Medfield's Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator form of government was created through the Town Charter.
An elected 3-member Board of Selectmen meets throughout the year to make policy and oversee the operations of the Town government.
Day-to-day administration of the Town of Medfield is provided by a full-time professional Town Administrator appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The municipal department and division heads report to the Town Administrator.
Town Meeting
The legislative function is performed by an Open Town Meeting that meets at least annually to appropriate funds, revise local bylaws, and make other decisions as needed. The quorum for the Open Town Meeting is 250 registered voters. The Town Meeting form of government is used only in New England.
