For the past several months, the Select Board has been working to revise strategic town goals intended to provide a foundation to support the development of annual action plans addressing pressing needs of the town. The draft goals following this introduction are the result of this effort. At this point, the Select Board is looking for reactions/ comments to this draft set of goals from the town as we work to finalize the list of goals and format of the document.

The goals described below are intended to reflect what we believe to be the general consensus of the town on the most important priorities that should guide decision-making on important town issues. These goals will undoubtedly be of great value to the Select Board, but they are not goals that only involve the Select Board or town staff. You will see that some of these goals are probably more effectively addressed by individual town departments, public groups, or even individuals. They are intended to be a statement by the town about what is most important to Medfield. While it is impossible to give every Medfield citizen exactly what they might want, we hope that this articulation of goals in its final form will provide Medfield citizens with an overall picture that they are happy with.

September 2025 Update

The Select Board reviewed an updated draft of the Town Goals that reflected discussions held at the Select Board Goals Workshop in June 2025. This draft was reviewed at the Select Board meeting in August and will be discussed with additional feedback from the Select Board on Tuesday, September 16th. The new draft revises the format of the document to address strategic goals, strategy, and action items. It does not include public comments received to date.

October 2025 Update

The Select Board have now incorporated all their comments and updates into one draft.  We continue to accept public comment in advance of the Town of Medfield Strategic Town Goal Public Hearing on November 18th.  Please email towngoals@medfield.net with your suggestions, questions, and comments.  Please also feel free to attend the meeting on November 18th and participate in the public hearing.
